Introduction Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder which can have severe impacts on the functionality of one’s life (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). An overview of OCD includes the various dimensions of the disorder, the diagnostic criteria, and the range of onset and how the beliefs and compulsions cause a vicious cycle. The aetiology of this disorder from the cognitive behavioural therapy [CBT] perspective is investigated and the strengths and weaknesses are identified and evaluated. CBT is a major paradigm used for patients with OCD. Different behavioural and cognitive techniques of CBT that are used in conjunction to tackle the obsessive-compulsive symptoms will be discussed. Overview Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterised by the occurrence of obsessions, compulsions or presentations of both. Obsessions include recurring thoughts, urges or images which can cause doubts in an individual (APA, 2013). Obsessions experienced by the individual are intrusive and can cause great distress. The relevance of the obsessions to real life threat is minimal and is different to excessive worry which is experienced in generalized anxiety disorder (APA, 2013). Common obsessions include thoughts of contamination or doubt of appliances being turned off. Women ave fought for equality and have reached many milestones and they are much more equal then they were, especially at the beginning of our nation’s history. This fight for equality has gained more support over the centuries and at this point the two sexes are more equal then they have ever been in the past however, even now, when this nation claims to be a land of equality for all, there is still inequality present. The directors objective was to produce a film, based on the true story that would appeal to all age groups, particularly the younger generation. So Cameron used Leonardo DiCaprio to play the role of Jack, a young American living life as it comes making his own luck. He chose Leo to play this part because he was the latest heartthrob of teenaged girls across the nations and would there fore attract a vast majority of the targeted audience, for the male population, Kate Winslet the girl next door was cast as the young, fresh and rich Rose. The combination of the two up and coming stars was a sure hit teamed with the theme of love.
